Saladax, Harter

Kevin M. Harter, Interim Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Harter is a co-founder and Senior Vice President of the Life Science Greenhouse, a public-private partnership, where he manages a portfolio of early-stage biotech, medical device, and diagnostic companies. From 2007-2011, Harter also served as Chairman of Saladax Biomedical Inc., an LSG-portfolio company where he led multiple, successful funding rounds and strategic deals for the company. He has represented the LSG on various for-profit boards, and as interim senior management when appropriate. Harter previously co-founded Keystone Medical Systems in 1990 and managed it through significant growth until its acquisition by publicly-held Continental Medical Systems. Prior to Keystone, Harter held several positions within the Pennsylvania Blue Shield organization, including Vice President, Technology. Harter contributed significantly to the development of the field of electronic claims, electronic medical records, and physician practice management. He has held more than two dozen board seats in technology and financial companies. Recognition for his professional and volunteer achievements includes the Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Alumni Fellow and Philip Philip Mitchell Service Awards from the Pennsylvania State University. He holds a B.S. and MBA from the Pennsylvania State University.

Salvatore J. Salamone, Ph.D., Founder & Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Salamone has over 25 years experience in the health care and medical device industries. Prior to founding Saladax, Dr. Salamone was Vice President of Research and Development, Roche Diagnostics, where he was responsible for North American research and development efforts for the Laboratory Systems Division. Dr. Salamone's efforts during his 17-year tenure at Roche resulted in the launch of 7 major reagent product lines, comprised of over 70 FDA-approved products and more than 200 instrument applications. These products have generated in excess of $1 billion in cumulative revenue to date. Five of these product lines are based on nanoparticle technology similar to that utilized in the MyCare product line. Dr. Salamone is world-recognized in the field of drug monitoring with well over 100 publications, including textbook chapters, books, patents, and articles in the area. He serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals and is on an NIH study section for SBIR-STTR grants. Dr. Salamone received 2 bachelor's degrees from Villanova University, a master's and a Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University, and was a SERC Post-Doctoral Fellow at Oxford University.

Adrienne Choma, Esq., Founder & Vice President, Marketing & Sales

Ms. Choma has over 30 years experience in the health care field. She began her 20-year career at Hoffmann-LaRoche as an attorney and joined the Diagnostic Division where she held titles of Director, Business Research & Planning; Vice President, New Product Development and Regulatory Affairs; Vice President, Operations; Vice President, International Drug Monitoring Business Unit; and Vice President, Marketing & Sales for the U.S. She worked closely with Dr. Salamone in the successful development and launch of 4 reagent product lines at Roche. Before founding Saladax, Ms. Choma served as Chief Operating Officer of Alfa Wassermann, Inc., with global responsibility for the diagnostic division of the Italian pharmaceutical company. Ms. Choma earned her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and her J.D. degree from New York University where she was a recipient of the Root-Tilden Scholarship.

Saladax

Irina A. Baburina, Vice President, R&D and Operations

Dr. Baburina has 12 years of experience in diagnostic industry. Prior to coming to Saladax, Dr. Baburina was at Roche Diagnostics, where she led the Process Optimization and Transfer group for multiple assay technologies, and was responsible for process validation, product support, and process improvements, as well as customer complaint investigations and resolutions. She has extensive experience with customers and collaborative business partners in United States and Europe. Dr. Baburina received her bachelor's degrees from Moscow State University and a Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University. Her post-doctoral research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was focused on phospholipid based antineoplastic agents.

Jodi Courtney, Research Fellow

Ms. Courtney spent 15 years in the Roche Diagnostics Research and Development Department, working with Dr. Salamone. She was instrumental in developing many of the technologies and procedures that were used in the successfully launched drug management product lines. While at Roche, Ms. Courtney developed her international experience working in Basel, Switzerland, where she was responsible for system integration of drug management products on the first medium-throughput consolidated Roche instrument. Ms. Courtney received her bachelor’s degree from Beloit College where she graduated first in her class of chemistry and attended Cornell University as a graduate student.

Yunying Li, Ph.D., Director, Market Development, Asia

Dr. Li has extensive experience in diagnostic product development and is responsible for the business development function of the Company in Asia. During her tenure at Saladax, Dr. Li held positions of increasing responsibility in the development of the MyCare™ product line resulting in the creation of an extensive patent portfolio and the launch of the My5-FUassay. Prior to joining Saladax, Dr. Li was a Senior Scientist at Orasure Technologies Inc., a diagnostic company focused on the development of point of care infectious disease tests. Dr. Li received her bachelor’s degree in polymer chemistry from Peking University, Beijing, China and her Ph.D. degree in chemistry from University of Pennsylvania, where she performed research on novel radical polymerization.

Toni L. Klich, Vice President & Controller

Ms. Klich has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and is responsible for all finance and administrative functions of the company. Prior to joining Saladax, she was with Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of cancer and other life-threatening conditions. During her tenure, Ms. Klich held positions of increasing responsibility in the finance and accounting area, with her last position as the Company’s Controller/Director of Accounting. Ms. Klich received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University.
